"Love God, Love Your Neighbor,
        Love Your Neighborhood..."

BarnabasWC has its roots in a ministry called Barnabas Group that was started in November of 2004 in Lionville, PA.  The original idea was to engage God’s church to help people in career transition.  In the eight years that followed, almost four hundred individuals attended at least one session.  What are some of the lessons we learned over that eight year period?

  • Approaching a career transition is a full-time job.  The 6:30 AM start on a Monday makes a bold statement about you.
  • You are not alone in your search.  The group dynamic builds community and confidence.  Career transition at mid-life and beyond is the new norm.
  • Each week all attendees relate their progress from the previous week.  Presentation skills improve and the group helps each other communicate more effectively.
  • Networking in a live environment is vastly superior to relying on internet search engines.
  • We keep each other accountable for the networking and search actions we commit to.
  • Often, a career transition is God giving you a “time out” to reassess your life and future.  Jer. 29:11-13
  • A career transition is a time when virtually everyone in your life is looking at how you handle yourself in tough times.  God has put you in the Super Bowl of Trials.  James 1:2-5.
  • The local church is overflowing with resources that can and want to help.  Barnabas assists in community needs and connecting our group with them.
  • Career transition often becomes a blessing instead of a trial.  In the fullness of time many realize that God moved them for His reasons.
  • The BEST ambassadors for Barnabas are our alumni.  Someone who has been through career transition and was helped by others always seems to have a heart to help our current attendees.

BarnabasWC is a new ministry to serve the West Chester Community.
